@MissinTooth can i ask, why is it embarrassing/shameful to ask for help? why is that everyone else is allowed to struggle but you aren't? why don't you deserve help to becoming the best you?
you don't need to answer any of those, unless you want to! they're just questions i've asked myself to help challenge my thoughts. and especially the last question, i've always found interesting how our brains make us feel horrible and like a burden for needing help... yet without help we feel stuck and suffer in silence... but with help, we not only help ourselves, but we technically are less burdening because we got help? or at least that's the thought spiral i went through.
i really do hope that your student supports can offer more, because you absolutely deserve the very best support. the student support advisors have spoken to SO many students who have had challenges too, so if you're feeling embarrassed/ashamed - you're not alone, there are other students who've had the awkward conversation too.
in terms of strategies - i like to have a couple different ones. i like some that 'distract' my thoughts/feelings (for me this is watching comedy or comfort movies/tv shows), some that soothe or calm me down (breathing techniques, journalling, reframing my thoughts to be neutral, listening to music, napping, eating my fav foods, drinking my fav drinks, wearing comfy clothes, using calming scents, etc), and then some that recharge (going for a walk, gym, drawing, painting, making bracelets, singing karaoke, dance, etc). do you have some that you can think of for yourself that might fit these categories?
