Adult diagnosis of ADHD

Re: Adult diagnosis of ADHD

@Glisten 🫂🫂🫂

Aww hun that is SO HARD. I have half-joked in the past that the reason there's so few ADHD support groups is cos we're all too disorganised to make em but... like it is a genuine problem hey.

Are there even any generic ADHD support groups around you? What are they like, if so?

Is there an increased risk with ADHD meds or something? Dementia is a scary thought, for sure.

Sitting with ya 💜

Re: Adult diagnosis of ADHD

@Jynx  I did some research on your questions.

ADHDWA has an online support group. But you need to be a member.

There are a couple of articles on a study regarding ADHD and Dementia. But people with diabetes are just as likely to get dementia as someone with ADHD.

Anxiety might have more to do with the release of Cortisol and the only way of dealing with excess cortisol is sweat it out and get 9 hours of sleep so your brain 🧠 can wash itself using the glymphatic system, to eliminate waste.

All I do is sweat 🥵

Re: Adult diagnosis of ADHD

Ooooh @Glisten you always treat me to the very best rabbit holes!! I will have a looksie tomorrow methinks, brain is going into foggy land... must be nearly knock off time 😝

Don't forget crying!! Emotional tears have been found to contain cortisol too (sorry I don't have time to rustle up a source right now!) 😉

Re: Adult diagnosis of ADHD

@Jynx  If I cry laughing, I wonder if cortisol still comes out?

That question answered in the next episode of Adult diagnosis of ADHD.

Ok you crazy kids @GlussDecaf @TMST @Shaz51 @tacocat

Let’s do this Sh!t show again tomorrow 🎉

Fun on a Bun

Re: Adult diagnosis of ADHD

@Glisten such a good question!! I also wonder about happy crying, you know? Probably much harder to study lol cos good luck tryna get someone legitimately happy crying in some lab experiment 😅

A tonne of fun on a bun in the sun!! 😋

Re: Adult diagnosis of ADHD

@Jynx  is Happy crying the same as crying with laughter?

I was telling my daughter and granddaughter about this beautiful filly. The filly is pale gold with a blonde mane and tail.

One day I thought she was dying. She was lying on the ground and making a strange noise.

Called her owner, who told me she was snoring.

Last week same filly coughed and farted at the same time.

For me, I don't think it is!! Crying with laughter is because something is so funny that it's like, all that squishing up of the face makes the tear ducts start up. Or cos I can't get reprieve from the laughter so I end up weeping. But it's not cos I'm overwhelmed with joy, but with mirth I guess.

Happy crying has also never been the result of a joke, but more being overwhelmed with something like gratitude or love - it's usually been in response to like, being unconditionally accepted by a partner in a moment of vulnerability and then have them say or do something so meaningful I just get overwhelmed and start crying happy tears, or like when I realised how far I'd come in my recovery and found I didn't hate myself anymore.

It's very rare, prolly only happened like 10 or so times across my life, and I do consider myself a) to be an over-cryer* and b) to have been very lucky, as well as acknowledging I've also come from a life of relative privilege (white, financially stable 2-parent household).

*not in a shaming way, I've mostly accepted that my body will cry at a much lower threshhold of emotional intensity than anyone else I've met. Shrug, what can ya do!

OMG you got some chuckles outta me again tho, you wily lil pile of cheeky delight!!

Haha did the filly cart, or fough? I think I've sneeze-farted myself... snarted? Feezed sounds gross 🤔

🤣🤣

Re: Adult diagnosis of ADHD

@Jynx  the body keeps count.

Set your cries free or they will build up in your colon, and you will fully snart or farcough 😂
