Got my functional assessment.
Cried. 😂
See my occupational therapist on Friday…
Work has been tough.
Ended up calling in sick on Friday morning and unintentionally gave concern to work for my welfare🫣
-Thats a whole nother post.
Showered for the first time last night in like a week. And changed my clothes after I think it was 3 days of the same outfit.. 🙃
Keen to see my OT to start a plan and get tragedies in place to do better & be better. 🤞🏻
Any good books to read? 🤔

@Neuro_Spicy I cry in appts ALL THE TIME lol you're not alone! Doctor's appts especially. Love that emotional dysregulation hey.
Also feel you on the wearing of the same clothes. Sometimes I'm in my pj's (which are regular clothes that work just as well for going to the shops) for days at a time.
Feel free to make that post if you need to, happy to listen.
Hmm book recommendations, I just gave some to another member I'll copy-paste em here:
The Four Agreements - Don Miguel Ruiz
The Body Keeps the Score - Bessel van der Kolk
Staring at the Sun - Irvin Yalom
Or if you're more into fiction/fantasy, you could check out The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, and Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor.
All the best with your OT!!

@Jynx - I am the worst for regular exercise, so it has to be first thing in the morning before sunrise. Like meditation when you first wake up, because if you pee first it won’t happen.
I ❤️ sauna because it has all the benefits of a workout and makes you blissy. But you have to push past the panic stage. Also helps prevent dementia 👍🏼
Dysgraphia is only a problem if you are a sign writer 🤣
A neurobiologist told me ADHD was the result of childhood trauma 🤷🏼♀️
Hyperfocus is an ADHD superpower. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

@Glisten I always struggle with mornings, I have a delayed circadian rhythm so my most productive hours are between midnight and 3am 😅 I wish I could go out running/do my walks at night when I actually feel the most restlessness, but it's not safe unfortunately.
Aww I wish I had easy access to a sauna! Maybe I should look for one locally to see how much it would cost hey. A friend of mine likes doing the cold plunge after which honestly blows my mind. But apparently it's awesome for circulation!
The dysgraphia has been more of an 'interesting discovery' than something that's causing me grief, thankfully. I like creative writing a lot and one of the issues is that I have a messed up pen grip (very common with dysgraphia, it's a motor-function issue as well) which means I get cramps and sore hands if I write for too long, which definitely sucks.
Gabor Mate has that view of ADHD as well. Also the reason it runs in families is because of intergenerational trauma. I think that's very possible, but I also really believe in the idea that it makes sense for a certain percentage of the population to function differently to others. Human beings evolved to be specialists in adaptation to our surroundings, and having different neurotypes in every tribal group would make sense. Some are night-time active, good for keeping awake and keeping watch. Some are super restless and always ready to go - good for hunting. Distractable minds are excellent at watching for incoming threats, as well as finding new sources of food. Highly methodical minds would be perfect for invention and managing resources. So having a mixture of all different types of neurological function is what is most advantageous to humans. I think it's likely a bit of both - trauma, as well as simply different types of brains.
Love my hyperfocus, it gives me life! 💜
