Thanks @Jynx I ended up spending the day not thinking about him, and searching for the best coin prices on some coins I am interested in. That kept my mind very busy. It was bucketing down on Monday, so I didn't end up going to the cemetery either. When I feel up to it, I will go and put some flowers on his grave and try to remember some good times 😊

Did they give a reason for the referral not being accepted @Mustang67? I know GPs are not always kept up to date on other practitioner's availabilities and can sometimes refer to practitioners who aren't actually able to take new clients at that time. I imagine a bulk billing psychiatrist would be very booked so that's where my thoughts go first

That sounds like a lovely way to honour him 😊
Do you have an old fav movie or go to meal or something that reminds you of him too @Mustang67?

@Ru-bee to tell you the truth, I didn't hear what she said after I heard that the referral had been rejected. I didn't know they had the option to do so. They are writing back to my GP, so I will find out why they rejected it then 😒 I just want better medication, so I stop feeling numb all the time.

Im sorry to hear @Mustang67. it can feel so disappointing when that happens. It can happy for many reasons and hopefully they will let your GP know (if not, and you want to know why, you can always call them back to ask).
Having been both a patient and a secretary with regard to psychiatry before, I reckon most likely is closed books due to too long waiting list (or if winding up practice).
Its possible it could be unable to offer bulk billing spots (but if this was the case, I would expect them to then talk about what the full price is, so that sounds less likely in this case).
I remember working for a bulk billing psychiatrist a decade ago (one of the very few private ones!) And their wait list for new patients was usually 6months+. Even longer for medico-legal assessments.
I hope your GP can refer to another psychiatrist, and hopefully one who will bulkbill you - especially if its just a once-off medication review.
Does your area have any psychiatrist medication advise line? My region has one especially so that GPs dont need to refer a patient who then has to wait 6mths+ for what could be a 10min chat between a psych and a gp!
