Re: Time away from forums

Oh no @creative_writer just going through it atm aren't ya! Aww hun, sending some huggles 🫂

Got any upcoming gp appts to get everything checked out?

Re: Time away from forums

@Jynx I could look into booking to seeing a GP, though it does sometimes take a few days to get in.

I’m just wearing my red glasses right now, they block 100% of blue and green light that disrupt sleep, probably what I need this evening. I sometimes struggle with my MH when sick or post sickness. The germ theory for MI makes a lot of sense for me

Re: Time away from forums

@creative_writer yeah for sure, we're pretty complex little systems and changes on the small scale definitely have an impact on our overall wellbeing. I do hope it passes soon!

Oooh do you mind me asking where you got your blue light glasses? I've just got cheap Kmart ones, they do block blue light but feels not enough sometimes! Spose I could just look on ebay or something

Re: Time away from forums

@Jynx we are very complex for sure. I’m sure they are people who say they’ve had depression triggered from an illness. Being ill is hard enough on its own, and added inflammation doesn’t help either.

I got mine from Baxter blue. They have amber ones and red ones for evenings. They also have daytime clear ones. The red ones are the strongest but do distort colour. I prefer amber ones early evening and then red ones later in the evening, though today I’ve been wearing the red ones longer due to agitation I was experiencing in the afternoon

Re: Time away from forums

@creative_writer yeah for sure, and we still know so little about how it all connects and interacts!

Oh nice, thanks! Yeah something nice n dark for when I go to the shops at night - protect me from the nasty headlights and overwhelming fluorescents!! hahaha.

Anyway I'm off soon, and on leave next week - so I'll catch you whence I return!! Hope you feel better soon and don't have to miss any more placement 😊💜 Be well, look after your wonderful self!

Re: Time away from forums

@Jynx I think we will never understand the connection fully. Science can only go so far.

Yeah those lights can be frustrating. I take my amber ones to placement in case I ever feel too stimulated. They provide relief for migraines too. Though I prefer not to wear them too much because they can make you sleepy during the day.

I hope you take care and enjoy your week off. Will talk to you when you’re back 💖🫂

Re: Time away from forums

I hope placement goes okay for you @creative_writer .

I recognise it may be very challenging. Please look after yourself.

Re: Time away from forums

@tyme I’ve certainly been deregulated lately. I don’t want to take so much PRN, so trying more dark therapy through blue light blocking glasses. There is some evidence it has a mood stabilising effect, which I am finding. Better than taking more antipsychotics due to side effects

Re: Time away from forums

I'm glad you have found things that work for you besides meds @creative_writer . It sounds helpful.

I hope you feel better.

How much longer of placement do you have?

Re: Time away from forums

@tyme when I’m agitated I’m super sensitive to light and can aggravate my symptoms if I’m not careful. Bipolar obviously feeds into cptsd too. More racing thoughts=more intrusive thoughts. I get other thoughts too, it can bounce around a bit. It has gotten pretty bad before, I disassociated at night and didn’t get much sleep sometime last week. I could not recall anything I was thinking, completely wiped away from my memory. I don’t even think I knew where I was at the time, I don’t remember so can’t say.

I still have a bit more than 250 hours to go, so till end of August
